A few years ago, riders paid $8 to ride the famous Coney Island Cyclone in Brooklyn, NY. How many times can a person ride the Cyclone if he or she has $64?

The rate is [math]$8[/math] per [math]x[/math] which equals a certain number of rides.

so

[math]$8x = $64[/math]
[math]x = \dfrac{$64}{$8}[/math]
[math]x = 8[/math]
You can get [math]8[/math] rides for [math]$64[/math]

Trust me, there are people in NYC that are crazy enough to ride the Cyclone 8 times or more per visit regardless of cash spent.
