5 uncomfortable truths about blackness in the Dominican Republic - Matador Network
There is racism in every race. Racism is a sin and sin starts in the heart of man.
Well, I have no problem if someone is simply not attracted to another race. Also, if a place doesn't change race that much, it's no big deal. The problem, though, is when interracial couples or friends are harassed - even using the Bible. For instance, some Christians might claim someone doesn't care about their heritage.
Society will never, fully accept interracial dating. I recall developing a friendship with a black girl back in my college days. I also vividly recall the crazy staring we both received on and off campus. We were only friends.
White Dominicans despise black and dark brown Dominicans. Again, racism has nothing to do with skin color. It has everything to do with the human condition and the fall of man. Read Genesis.
That's true and a result of that is classism. For instance, I know this black girl who grew up among whites her whole life - minus her immediate family. She was scared and massively prejudiced when going to an area with many blacks.
